As a professional graphic artist, I believe in providing clients - both regional and national - with a consistent level of design you would expect to find in the major markets. In early 2004, after 32 years in the New York advertising and marketing arena, my work as a musician prompted moving my studio to beautiful south-central Kentucky, where I continue to apply high standards to my graphic design while also making music. I started 1972, refining my graphic art skills while working for package design studios, printers, and advertising agencies. In 1982 I started Joe LaMay Design and have continued to work as a freelance designer ever since. My early experience was with clients such as Eastman Kodak, Xerox Corporation, and other corporate entities. At the same time, because of my involvement with the music business, I began producing graphic design for record labels and developed a reputation as a designer for musicians. Many record labels, musicians, and duplicators began hiring me to design their CD packaging. In particular, I have worked with Oasis Duplication as a contract designer. Word-of-mouth referrals have teamed me up with performers such as Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, Garth Hudson (keyboard player with The Band), Leslie Ritter & Scott Petito, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, and many others. Performing Songwriter magazine featured me in their December 2001 issue in an article on pre-release production. Over the years, I have designed many CD packages, logos, posters, and other promo projects, for musicians, bands, music organizations, labels, and publications. Please look through my portfolios and acquaint yourself with Joe LaMay Design's quality and style, and when you're ready to move forward on your design project, please contact me. We can discuss your project and I'll give you a free estimate that will work for you and your budget.
