Old Rte 27 out of Burnside Upon completion of the Wolf Creek Dam in 1950, the old town of Burnside became submerged under Lake Cumberland,and the new town was relocated to higher ground. With the Wolf Creek Dam currently under repair, the water level has been dropped 50 to 70 feet, exposing the old Rte 27 heading South out of Old Burnside.
