Joe & Sherri's teaming as a duo offers a unique and seamless blend of folk and bluegrass styles. Their love of old songs and traditional harmonies, combined with their original songs - which retain the traditional styles - produces a very rich, lyrical palette which is rooted in a more colorful time in our musical heritage. Since 2004, Joe & Sherri have been featured "monthly segment" contributors on Bill Knowlton's Bluegrass Ramble radio show, which is heard throughout the northeast on WCNY-FM, and broadcast world-wide over the internet. Produced at their home in Kentucky, they have presented over 80 twenty-minute monthly segments, designed to showcase the musicians they "pick" with in their travels throughout Kentucky and beyond. At last count, LaMay & Reese have presented over 385 songs, performed by more than 75 musicians and bands, recorded "live" at many concerts, jams, festivals, and visits to performer's homes. LaMay & Reese were added to the Kentucky Arts Council Performing Arts Directory in 2008. The directory is designed to spotlight outstanding artists, based on the quality of their work. LaMay & Reese have been featured showcase artists for several KY Arts Council events. They were featured artists at the 2010 Alltech EFI World Equestrian Games in the Kentucky Experience Pavilion, highlighting the many sights and sounds of Kentucky's rich cultural heritage. Joe & Sherri are published songwriters, with several of their original songs recorded by other folk musicians and bluegrass bands. They are also experienced in presenting Songwriting Workshops which focus on original songs and the inspiration and techniques used in crafting them. They also offer hands-on Songwriter Circles, which can easily be scheduled to precede or follow their concerts, or in the case of music festivals, at intervals throughout the event. The Songwriters Circle format can be set up to either give attending songwriters an opportunity to present their songs to other writers in a quiet intimate gathering, or to an audience in a "round-robbin" concert. Both formats are valuable to the songwriters, and can be an interesting and sought-after event for your concert or festival schedule. Joe & Sherri are committed to keeping traditional folk music alive, and they are active in community music projects, including assisting local school music students in their studies of traditional folk music. Aside from participation in education projects, they have organized and host a weekly, acoustic music jam, the Lake Cumberland Jammers, and have also created and host the Somerset Songwriters Group. Joe LaMay & Sherri Reese are veteran performers who will fit into any concert, festival, or broadcast situation. With guitar & banjo, they will bring their songs and stories your audience, and leave them thoroughly entertained. LaMay & Reese win over audiences wherever they perform with wonderful tasteful arrangements and homespun harmonies. My listeners can't get enough of their music!
